Peace

28 Feb

When peace like a river attendeth my soul, and sorrows like sea billows roll, whatever my lot thou hast taught me to say it is well it is well with my soul…..the author of this hymn wrote it when a ship he was on sailed over the exact spot where a ship sank in the sea killing his wife and family.  A divorce is taking my family not a ship……..I think I know how he feels…

“Its time to get down to the heart of the matter and I think Its about forgiveness…forgiveness…even if even if you don’t love me anymore.”

Robert Frost (1874-1963)

Choose Something Like a Star

O Star (the fairest one in sight),
We grant your loftiness the right
To some obscurity of cloud —
It will not do to say of night,
Since dark is what brings out your light.
Some mystery becomes the proud.
But to be wholly taciturn
In your reserve is not allowed.
Say something to us we can learn
By heart and when alone repeat.
Say something! And it says “I burn.”
But say with what degree of heat.
Talk Fahrenheit, talk Centigrade.
Use language we can comprehend.
Tell us what elements you blend.
It gives us strangely little aid,
But does tell something in the end.
And steadfast as Keats’ Eremite,
Not even stooping from its sphere,
It asks a little of us here.
It asks of us a certain height,
So when at times the mob is swayed
To carry praise or blame too far,
We may choose something like a star
To stay our minds on and be staid.

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

and because God forgave us who were his enemies by sacrificing his son. incredible.

My Universe Within

We forgive, not necessarily because others’ are deserving of forgiveness, but because we deserve to be free.

I wrote that quote 3 years ago. I absolutely love quotes; however, I seldom have any that come to me that are worth sharing. But this blog isn’t about tooting my own horn. *beep, beep* 🙂

Forgiveness is tough. It’s tough to obtain, tough to do and…tough to write about. But here goes nothing. It is something that takes time and it takes patience with yourself. It is something you do for yourself because holding onto resentment, hatred and all the other negative emotions associated with un-forgiveness, only hurts you. It’s really important to remember that the brain does not know the difference between real and imaginary experiences; your brain and your body reacts the same way, whether you are actually experiencing it or just replaying the same situation over and over…

My Universe Within

My name is GOSSIP
I have no respect for justice
I maim without killing
I break hearts and ruin lives
I’m cunning and malicious and gather strength with age
The more I’m quoted the more I’m believed
My victims are helpless. They can not protect themselves from me because I have no name and no face.
To track me down is impossible, the more you try the more elusive I become.
I am nobody’s friend.
Once I tarnish a reputation, it’s never the same.
I topple governments and wreck marriages.
I ruin careers and cause sleepless nights, heartache and indigestion.
I make innocent people cry in their pillows.
Even my name hisses. I am called GOSSIP. I make headlines and heartaches.
Before you repeat a story ask yourself:
Is it true? You know that for sure? Is it harmless? Is it necessary? If you hadn’t heard it, would it have…
